The Street Urchinz recently had the privilege of opening for Matisyahu at Ace of Spades. It was awesome playing in front of a packed house filled with hundreds of beautiful people, fans, and music lovers alike. We had a blast and want to say thank you to everyone that came out.

Street Urchinz: July Ends

Posted: July 31, 2013 in Recent Shows
Thursday started out on a high note at Harlow’s with Massive Delicious and North Bound Train. The IPA tasted especially sweet that night. It was North Bound Train frontman/lead guitarist, Brian Curtin’s last show in Sacramento so you could tell everyone was visibly frantic after North Bound Train’s first set. Only to be thrown into the utter devastation that Andre, Josh, Dylan, & Andrew from Massive D unleashed during the second set. Street Urchinz closed out the show with high energy and style, playing some of our favorite originals, Runnin’ Around and Drunk Tank.

Friday we were off to Smartville to play with the fellas from Arden Park Roots and The Old Screen Door. Big ups to Robert at the Lakehouse Smartsville for having us. The burgers were off the hook and the jello shots went like hot cakes during Pass the Jager. The party was still going when we had to skip out and rest assured, we’d love to come back out and do it again sometime, thanks guys.
By the time Saturday got around the Street Urchinz were still ready to party. Geez!  Stuckey’s in Galt did not disappoint with Sensi Dread and the Ganja Trees opening the show and providing his chill reggae beats. The Street Urchinz set was electric and we appreciated all the support. Especially from Cheryl at Stuckey’s who helped organize everything including the sound from Greg with Adonis Live Entertainment.

Stay Classy everyone and until next time!

This past Thursday was a pretty rough work day for the Street Urchinz. Instead of practicing all day like usual (hahaha), we decided to take a load off and spend the day… ON A BOAT!!! Hey!@#$#! We deserved it after preparing for our show at Crawdad’s on the River all week.

Urchinz Montage

We cruised out to Discovery Park, Old Sacramento, and Crawdad’s plus had time to find some new fans too! The water felt great and you know us Street Urchinz looooooove playing in the old H..2….O. We of course got our free candy from Candy Heaven and took the obligatory crazy hat picture at Evangeline’s in Old Sac.

Urchinz Swim

When the time was right, we rolled up to Crawdad’s in style and docked the boat right at the venue. Unfortunately for us musicians with no roadies, we had to lug our gear from the parking lot down two sets of stairs, across a bridge, and down some more stairs to get all the way to the party barge in the back of the restaurant (totally worth it though, Crawdad’s is a kickass venue).

Crawdad's Girls Imitate STU

We loved the picture from the beautiful women of Crawdad’s supporting the Street Urchinz, we only wish they got a hold of the picture with the current lineup :p. We forgive them, besides it was no sweat off the Street Urchinz back, we’re still close friends with all our past band members because it’s the Street Urchinz way.

Crawdad's Stage

The show itself was awesome! Plenty of sexy ladies dancing and a beach ball or two floating around the crowd. The support was amazing and we thank everyone that came out. We’ll be back at Crawdad’s soon, hope to see all of you there. Until then….

The Street Urchinz caravanned to South Lake Tahoe this weekend to play a show for the Heavenly Village Tahoe Summer Concert Series, and this is how it went down…

Tahoe Bound

We awoke at the crack of… well, noon Friday and were on the road by 1pm. One of the members  was fashionably late due to unforeseen circumstances (Stay off your cell phone while driving, Pauly. Tickets can get expensive $$$). The drive went smoothly with Doug at the wheel, Tommy as co-pilot, and the boys in the back (Russ, Alan, and Jake). We arrived in Tahoe to a brisk 75 degrees (T’was already 92 when we left West Sacramento. Hot as balls!). Our gear was setup by 3pm with soundcheck around 4pm. Our good buddy, Dreu Murin from K-Tahoe Radio and Wake Up Tahoe , provided the honorary first round of drinks before we hopped on stage to do our thing at  5pm.
We were setup across from Base Camp Pizza Co. on the main walk through Heavenly Village (The pizza there is amazing and the beer flows like wine). There was plenty of foot traffic, with loads of locals and tourists grooving to the Street Urchinz sound. Our 4 hour set was a crowd pleaser, chocked full of Street Urchinz originals like Wanting You and Pass the Jager. At the height of the show, Alan took an extended drum solo plus there was a bonus Street Urchinz improvisational jam and a little Cissy Strut for good measure. South Lake Tahoe local, Stephanie, even got up on stage to showcase her hula hoop skills for the crowds viewing pleasure, that girl can really hula!

Heavenly Village

When all the smoke cleared and the dust had settled (and a few encores to boot) the time had come to pack up and go. We enjoyed some spectacular pizza and beverages at Base Camp with our good friends before we headed out to the hotel to prep for the night’s shenanigans. We were headed out to Mont Bleu to party at Opal. One of the brave men in our extended band entourage had acquired the scent of cougars on the way back to the hotel… “The hunt is on!!!” he exclaimed in excitement. Turns out she was an American Gladiator from the original 1988 series and Two-time World Bull Riding champion for the Professional Women’s Rodeo Association from 1986-1988 … we picked him up at the hospital next day, he was a little shaken up but the doctor said he would heal with plenty of bed rest. Be safe out there ladies and gentleman, until next time….
